Mexico is so much more than Cancun with its all inclusive 5 star resorts. For us, the real Mexico lies elsewhere, from the amazing food and beaches of Oaxaca, to the indigenous, mountainous area of Chiapas, the vast 7-canyon network of Barrancas del Cobre in Chihuahua and the marine life of the Sea of Cortez. The warmth of the Mexican people and their joie de vie add to the rich history and infusion of Mayan, Aztec and Spanish culture. It is also the first place we went backpacking and so has a very special place in our hearts.
